Crate hire is not only for moving house
Most of our crates go out on house moves. The rest go to offices, renovations, storage units and houses being packed down before they go to auction - the same crates, a different job, and a different way of working out how many you need.
Moving house or flat
The reason most of our crates go out. Packs are sized by bedrooms, from a studio to a four-bedroom house, and every hire includes two weeks, free delivery and free collection.
Office moves
Almost every commercial move in Sydney runs on plastic crates rather than cardboard, and for good reason: a floor of desks generates an absurd amount of carton, tape and rubbish, and somebody has to deal with all of it on the Monday morning when everyone wants to be working.
Renovations
A renovation is not a move. Nothing goes anywhere: it comes off the shelves, sits somewhere for six weeks while a kitchen is ripped out, and goes back. That is a different problem from getting a house across town, and cardboard is worse at it than people expect.
Storage runs
Putting things into storage is two moves with a gap in the middle, and the gap is where cardboard fails. A carton that was fine going into the unit has been holding a load for six months by the time you come back for it, and the bases go.
Selling and downsizing
Every agent on the North Shore gives the same advice before a sale: take away half of what is in the house. Family photos, the overflowing bookshelf, the wardrobe that will not close, the kids' things in the corner of the living room. Buyers need to imagine themselves in the space, and they cannot do that around somebody else's life.
